Food Stamp Program · FY2027
Alaska Food Stamp Calculator
Alaska pays the highest SNAP benefits in the country because food costs more there. The Division of Public Assistance runs the Food Stamp Program, loaded on the Alaska Quest Card. A four-person household gets up to $1,306 in urban areas and up to $2,027 in the most remote Rural 2 communities.

Alaska’s own numbers
Nearly every federal figure is different here. The standard deduction is $371 for one to five people ($385 for six or more), the shelter cap is $1,229 instead of $769, and income limits use Alaska’s higher poverty guidelines. With broad-based eligibility at 200%, a family of three can have up to $5,692 in gross income and any amount of savings.
Utility allowances come in six regions — Central, Northern, Northwest, Southcentral, Southeast and Southwest — each with separate amounts for heat, electricity, fuel, water, sewer and trash. Northwest’s heating figure is more than double Southeast’s. Pick your region in step 1; the values shown are USDA’s October 2025 table because the state had not published new ones we could verify.
Work rules and waivers
Alaska is one of twelve states with a partial waiver of the time limit for adults 18–64 in effect on October 1, 2026, and the 2025 law lets Alaska and Hawaii request extra “good faith” exemptions through 2028. Check with the Division whether your borough is covered before assuming the three-month clock applies.
Everyone in Alaska receives benefits on the 1st of the month. Alaska’s FY2025 payment error rate, 23.15%, was the highest of any state; because 1.5 times that rate exceeds 20%, its share of benefit costs is pushed back to FY2029.
