Hawaii Food Stamp Calculator
Hawaii has its own SNAP tables because groceries cost far more in the islands. The Department of Human Services pays benefits on the EBT card USDA’s directory lists as the Chase U CARD. For a family of four the maximum for October 2026 is $1,655 — USDA’s memo notes this is a decrease from last year — with a standard deduction of $306 and a shelter cap of $1,036.

No heating allowance — itemized utilities instead
Hawaii does not have a heating and cooling standard. Instead USDA’s table lists separate electricity, gas, water, sewer and trash standards that rise with household size, and Hawaii is one of the few states where using them is optional — a household with larger documented bills may use actual costs. In step 3 choose “two or more other utilities” and tick what you pay.
A Honolulu family of four earning $3,600 with $2,100 rent, electricity and water would get about $1,193. Broad-based eligibility lifts the gross limit to $6,326 for four.
Coming in 2027
USDA approved Hawaii to restrict SNAP purchases of soft drinks with a target date of April 1, 2027. Benefits arrive on either the 3rd or the 5th, depending on the first letter of your last name. Hawaii certifies for six or twelve months, uses both simplified and change reporting, and pays transitional benefits to families leaving cash aid. Its FY2025 payment error rate was 10.92%.
