Utility allowances run January to December
Maryland is the one state USDA’s utility table flags as setting its allowances by calendar year rather than federal fiscal year. USDA’s table lists Maryland’s 2026 values — $572 for heating or cooling, $350 limited and $41 phone — effective January 1. They stay current until December 31, 2026; we will replace them when the 2027 amounts are published, and after that date the calculator asks for your figure rather than reusing these.
Restaurants, schedules and cost sharing
Maryland operates a Restaurant Meals Program for elderly, disabled and homeless SNAP households. Deposits run from the 4th to the 23rd, ordered by the first three letters of your last name. The state offers certification periods from four months up to two years, the elderly simplified application, a modified combined application for SSI recipients, and transitional benefits; people with past drug felonies are not disqualified.
Maryland’s FY2025 payment error rate was 13.08%. Under the 2025 law that is the top, 15% state-share tier from FY2028 unless the state’s FY2026 rate, which it may choose instead, is lower.
