Utility allowances changed July 1
Wisconsin DHS announced that new FoodShare utility allowances took effect on July 1, 2026, and that many members would get more. We could not confirm the new amounts in a DHS document, so the figures here are USDA’s FY2026 table — $870 with heat, $436 without, and itemized standards for single utilities. If your notice shows a different number, enter it under “Figures from your notice”.
A Milwaukee example
A parent of two earning $2,400 with $950 rent plus heat would get about $527. Wisconsin pays FoodShare between the 2nd and 15th, set by the eighth digit of the Social Security number. It offers on-demand interviews and telephone signatures, pays transitional benefits, and some areas had a partial time-limit waiver for adults 18–64 on October 1, 2026. Its FY2025 error rate of 5.72% means no state cost share under the 2025 law.
