Tennessee Food Stamp Calculator
Tennessee’s Department of Human Services runs SNAP through One DHS. Tennessee does not use broad-based eligibility, so households face the federal tests: gross income at or under $2,960 for three, net income at or under $2,277, and an asset limit. The maximum for three is $808.

A heating allowance for every household size
Tennessee sets its heating and cooling allowance separately for each household size from one to ten-plus — $451 for one person, $503 for four and $602 for ten or more in USDA’s October 2025 table — while the basic allowance stays at $162. Tennessee’s allowances are also optional: a household with higher documented utility bills may use actual costs.
Restriction blocked in court
USDA approved Tennessee to restrict processed foods and beverages such as soda and energy drinks, but the June 22, 2026 order in Aragon v. Rollins vacated that approval, so the restriction is not in effect.
Benefits are spread across the 1st to the 20th by the last two digits of the head of household’s Social Security number. Tennessee certifies for four, six or twelve months and pays transitional benefits. Its FY2025 payment error rate was 9.44%.
